Here's roughly what Churnkey's cancel flow looks like from a customer's perspective:
Step 1: Exit intent capture When a user clicks "Cancel subscription" in your app, Churnkey's JavaScript intercepts the click before anything happens. A modal or drawer opens instead.

Churnkey might make sense if:

- You have a dedicated ops person who will actively optimize cancel flows
- You need non-Stripe payment processor support
- You need enterprise-grade SLAs and dedicated support
ChurnRecovery (or a simpler approach) probably works if:
- You're earlier stage and $250-825/month is meaningful burn
- You're primarily using Stripe
- You want to test whether a cancel flow even moves your numbers before committing to expensive tooling
- You're a newsletter creator, coach, or course business rather than a traditional SaaS company
The uncomfortable truth for expensive tools like Churnkey is that the marginal value of the tool decreases significantly for smaller businesses. A cancel flow saves a percentage of customers. If you have 50 subscribers, even a great save rate is a handful of people. The ROI math only works once you're at meaningful scale.
For businesses under $30-50k MRR, I'd seriously question whether $825/month in tooling is the right investment versus a simple, free solution that covers the fundamentals.
What I'd Actually Recommend
If you're building a subscription business and churn is a real problem (not just theoretical):
